What Is Search Engine Marketing All About?

Simply put, the purpose of search engine marketing is to increase the position of a web site or web page within the search engine result pages. However, search engine marketing is much more complex than the definition gives it credit for being. In reality, search engine marketing encompasses a variety of strategies and techniques, which include:

Search Engine Optimization: Search engine optimization (or SEO as it is commonly called) is the process of increasing a web site’s search engine ranking for different keywords. This is normally done by working on a combination of onpage and offpage factors. Onpage SEO factors include things such as meta tags, title tags, H1 and H2 tags, keyword densities and internal linking. Offpage SEO generally refers to obtaining links from quality web directories and relevant, trusted web sites. A big part of offpage SEO is obtaining external links that have anchor text which includes the desired keywords.

Pay Per Click Advertising: PPC advertising has gained a significant amount of popularity in recent years. Pay per click advertising allows you to list your web site in specified areas of search engines (for example, the right side of Google) or on relevant web sites (for example, a web site that is related to yours that displays Google AdSense ad units). Every time your listing is clicked, you pay the amount that you had bid on. A PPC campaign can be an excellent way to establish your brand and/or draw a significant amount of traffic. This is especially true for new sites which have not been around long enough to achieve solid organic search engine rankings.

Social Media Optimization: Of the three search engine marketing strategies, social media optimization is by far the newest SEM technique. Social media optimization refers to using social media sites such as Digg and Reddit to gain valuable traffic and backlinks. The term link bait refers directly to the practice of creating content specifically for social media web sites.

Need Leads?

Using webrings to build your telemarketing lead list is a excellent way to acquire leads. Webrings serve two purposes. First they can bring your websites much exposure. Second you will find websites in pretty much every field that can help you, with whatever you are trying to accomplish.

Before you can start using webrings to gain exposure for your websites, you must register. Go to and sign up. After you have completed the signing up process go through their start-up pages. One other point, when you decide to join a webring you will have to paste their code on your webpage.

Now this is the tricky part of using your webrings to build your telemarketing lead list. You must look for webrings that have high traffic. After that you want to find webrings that are relevant to your websites. For example if your websites are about dogs, it would not make any sense to join a webring focused on stock tips. Make sure your website is well done, having a good website will help you get accepted into a webring. Normally the high traffic webrings want only quality websites added to their webrings. So it is vital that your website is looks good and has quality content. Next you need to have a form on your webpage that asks for the customers info. Explain to them on the page that they will be receiving a call to qualify them and you now have a lead.

If you have friends with similar websites, you should think about starting your own webring.

If you plan are starting your own webring, here are somethings you should follow. Never allow a poorly done website in your webring. The websites reflect on you and your business. Demand the very best. The more quality websites you have the more traffic you will get. Next, find websites that you like and ask the webmasters to join your webring. Explain the benefits of the free traffic they will be getting. Follow this formula and you should have your own traffic producing webring in no time.

Using webrings to build your telemarketing lead list can bring you endless leads.

Is Golf A Sport?

For some reason, many people think of golf as being a boring sport. Actually some even feel that it isn’t a sport at all, at least not comparable to basketball, football, baseball or even hockey. Why could this be? Well, first of all, golf is such a quiet, low-key type of activity that is doesn’t quite seem like a sport. When most people think about sports, they think about a stadium filled with fans whopping and hollering as their favorite teams strives to win the game. Golf is more laid-back, calm. It can actually be considered more of an activity than a sport. A person definitely doesn’t have to be in shape to play it. Unlike physical sports that require players to be in shape, you can be four hundred pounds and play the game of golf without expecting any serious problems. There is really nothing physical about it. All you do is stand there and guide a ball in a hole. And golf carts don’t even require you to walk—you ride to the designated area.

Another reason why people don’t consider golf a sport is because actually, it isn’t. There is no such thing National Golf League, so why would it even be considered a sport in the first place? It shouldn’t be. Golf is a very relaxing recreational activity. It can promote relaxation in stressed-out individuals, and can even be lots of fun. And not only old people play the sport like some people may think. People of all ages, and races play it and think that it is a great hobby or leisure activity. Just because lots of people play golf after retirement doesn’t make it an ‘old timers’ activity. No matter what age you are, if you enjoy playing golf, then you shouldn’t be embarrassed about it.

There are many places for a golfer to buy all of their gear. Local sporting goods stores, malls, and even the internet.

So, even though golf isn’t a sport like football or baseball, with a professional league, players, coaches, etc, it doesn’t mean that it can’t be a very fun, very relaxing activity. Just give it a try, and you may discover that it’s one of the most enjoyable things you’ve ever done in your life.

Social Bookmarking On Full Autopilot!

As part of the online community you would have heard Social Bookmarking. What is it exactly? Social bookmarking is utilizing a web service, where users create a public repository of bookmarks pertaining to sites that they like. When you list a site in your bookmark list, anyone looking for that same type of information can do a search at the bookmark site and find the sites that you have bookmarked. It is like a search engine without all the trash.

If you haven't seen a Social Bookmarking site - go to one of the most popular sites Delicious. The larger the tag of a website within a Social Bookmarking site and the brighter the intensity - the more popular the tag is!. And thats not all either.

Social bookmarking is fast becoming an easy way to see which websites were becoming popular with Internet browsers. the best way of keeping track of sites which we like was to keep a list using bookmarks or favorites. The trick with tags is to keep them simple so that the words you use can apply to many things.

If you're a writer and find interesting writer's resources add them to your account. If you're a news junkie and track particular newsworthy items. Give people the tools to bookmark easily. If you have a blog use Sociable. It's terrific. Check out

Some Bookmarking services automatically put an excerpt of the page. Balancing being ethical and providing a useful service to others with promoting your own social tagged content enables you to be as aggressive as you like. Social bookmarking sites also help you to meet other people who are interested in the same topics you are and who may also have knowledge of web resources that you don't.To the un-initated, these bookmarks may seem like geek speak, but from an SEO standpoint these can build you a massive amount of back links which seem to originate from authority sites. Put Social Bookmarking on Autopilot!

Bankruptcy Isnt Your Only Option

Don't rush into bankruptcy if your business debts are starting to rack up. Even if it looks like you will never be profitable, don't throw in the towel yet.

1. The Temptation To Quit Will Be Greatest Right Before You Suceed

If youve been bending over backwards trying to make your business work, then you haven't failed. You haven't really failed until you give up. Ironically, many businesses innovations come during periods of tension.

2. Don't End Up Being The Captain That Goes Down with His Ship

Unless you have unlimited liability, such as a sole proprietership that is unincorporated, don't worry. Even if your business fails horribly, customers can't delve into your own personal belongings to pay for debts owed. The exception here is a partnership, and this is why some Enron employees that were completely not related to the fiasco ended up losing everything - they were legally a partner in the business.

3. Don't Let The World Know

No, it's not dishonest. Informing each and every customer about why your business isn't doing as well as it used to is a bad idea. They will immediately run, or think of running. Try to make it look like everything is fine - business as usual.

4. What To Do When Creditors Come After You

If you have creditors knocking at your door, chances are youve let things fall for quite some time. You might want to voluntariliy put yourself into an agreement with them before you declare bankruptcy. You can negotiate your debts down to a lower level using bankruptcy as a threat to them - after all, if you go bankrupt, they get nothing.

5. This Is Your Last Resort

Bankruptcy is a lot like suicide - it's the absolute last resort. Having had a bankrupt company stays with you for a long time in everything you do - your credit rating, your employment history, and even just in the way you think of yourself day-to-day. It's better to have everything wrestled from your hands than to give it up without a fight.

Web Hosting Requirements

In scouting for a web hosting company, always ensure the disk space and amount of traffic needed. Amount of Disk Space The requirement of a small or medium web site is between 10 and 100MB of disk space. When looking at the size of HTML pages, you will notice that the average size is very small - smaller than 1K. But looking at the size of the pictures used within the pages, you will often find them several times bigger than the page itself. 5 and 50K of space on the server is the expected consumption of each HTML page which is dependent on the use of images or other elements that may consume disk space. More disk space is needed for web sites that plan to utilize lots of images or graphic elements (not to mention sound files or movies). Before scouting for your web host, make sure that you have knowledge of your requirements. Monthly Traffic Monthly transfer of data for a small or medium web site will take up between 1 and 5GB. On the other hand, monthly traffic in larger commercial sites consumes more than 100GB. Before the contract with the host provider is signed, be sure that the following is checked: What are the limitations on monthly transfer? Will your site be closed if you go beyond the volume? Will you be the billing be higher if the volume is exceeded? Will it cover future requirements? Is upgrading easy? Connection Speed Your web hosting provider should offer a relatively faster connection for your visitors who often connect through a modem. During the early days of the Internet, connecting using a T1 was considered a fast connection. However, modern speeds are much faster. One byte is 8 bits long, and that is usual amount of bits used to transfer a character (a letter or a digit). 14,000 to 56,000 bits per second (bps) is the transfer speed for low speed communication modems. The range is within 2000 and 7000 characters per second, nearly 1 to 5 pages of written text. Before making any deal with hosting providers, research some other web sites on their servers, to have a good background about the speed of their network. Likewise, compare the other sites with your site, to check if you have the same requirements. Getting in touch with other customers is another alternative. Disk space and the amount of monthly traffic is not the only requirement in web hosting. This will depend on the web site you are planning to put up.

What To Look For In An Affiliate Program

Are you looking for an opportunity to make money? Look no further. Join affiliate programs, which offer a unique and rewarding way to multiply your revenue streams. However, not every affiliate program is suitable and worth looking at. There are some key things that you need to know about affiliate programs before you decide which is the one to join. Firstly, check who is the target clientele of the affiliate program. Some affiliate programs are meant for special category clients, such as sports, retail, gambling, wholesale, etc. Choose those affiliate programs which are likely to have affiliates such as you. Next, check out the plan the affiliate uses. Is it PPC, PPL, or PPS? The pay plan that you select is critical, depending on your business goal. Some affiliate programs offer tiers, such as referrals programs. These affiliate programs will be an advantage to you, because you will make money off your referrals’ sales proceeds, as well as your own performance. Pay attention to the commission that is paid. If one program pays 10% and another pays 30%, obviously you would sign up with the one that pays more. Still on the subject of commission, take note what is the minimum payout, and how it is paid to you. It could be a check in the mail, a wire transfer, and some affiliate programs pay by PayPal. It is also useful to check around if the program has any history of bad commission payouts. Of course, the most sensible thing to do is to stay away from such company. In short, you need to use good judgment. Ask by submitting questions to a representative of the affiliate program if you have any queries about an affiliate program that you are interested in. Do not join on impulse but be careful in your selection. This is to ensure you do not miss out any important details of the program. Remember, if you take a little more time to decide, you will make the right choice and join a great affiliate program.

Seo - Should You Hire A Freelance Seo Copywriter?

Writing all of the SEO copy for your web site or all of the SEO articles that you plan to submit to ezines can be a daunting task. This is especially true if you are completely talent free when it comes to writing. This can mean having to hire a professional SEO copywriter. However finding a qualified writer can also be a challenge as there are so many advertisements for them on the Internet. Even more frustrating is that half of those advertisements lead to software that is supposed to teach you writing or large companies with vague descriptions of what they do (accompanied by high prices.) Although the Internet has its share of great writers it also a lot of hacks on it that plan to never deliver after you have paid them an advance. Before hiring a freelance copywriter you should first of all make sure that he or she knows what SEO is in the first place. Yet another consideration is whether or not he or she is affordable and whether or not they can deliver on time. If the fee is lower than $25 an hour you can assume the writer is part time as that is less than one quarter of what the writer’s union charges for fees. The lower the price, the later the delivery will be, as the writer does have to make a living! Another thing to keep in mind is that a freelance copywriting service is highly linked or highly rated in the search engine is not necessarily your best choice. Remember that search engine listings and indexing can be paid for. You may not also not necessarily find your perfect copywriter on the Internet. There are plenty of copywriters listed in the phone book that can do the job too. Probably the two main sites where freelancers conglomerate on the Internet are and Both of these sites use the auction format. You post your project and name a budget and the writers that belong to these organizations bid on them. These are both reputable places to find writers who will work for cheap prices.

A Few Tips For Safe Online Shopping

More and more people turn to online shopping every day. The number of people shopping online is staggering. With this increase the instances of credit card fraud has also started to increase very rapidly. If someone steals your credit card nowadays, they can easily run up a large bill online shopping with fraudulent purchases. Before the days of the Internet, when someone stole your credit card, there was still a chance that someone would ask for identification before they would let you buy something. However the Internet takes that human interaction out of buying, so it is harder to stop people from making fraudulent purchases. Here are a few tips for safe online shopping. The first tip that you should do when safely shopping online is to make sure that the web site you are shopping on is a reputable web site and that any payment screen is part of a secured site. You can tell if a web site is secured by looking in the bottom right hand corner of the browser for a padlock. If the lock is locked, then you are on a secure site. If the lock is not locked, then you are not on an unsecured site. The next tip for safe online shopping you should make sure you do is to make your login information on your account confidential, and very strong. What I mean by strong is that your username should not just be your name, and your password needs to be something different than your birthday. A good password should be at least eight characters long with letters, numbers, different capitalizations, and also some special characters like a $. This will make it almost impossible for someone to “guess” your password when trying to login to your account. The final tip for safe online shopping is to keep your antivirus up-to-date, and not to click on links that you are not sure about. Some of the worst viruses on the Internet today try to steal your personal information so someone else can use it to make fraudulent charges. If you keep your antivirus up-to-date, then you will have a smaller chance of getting any of these very harmful viruses.

The Get Links Guide

Links are basically online votes for your website. As you get more votes, your website is viewed more favorably by search engines and you enjoy higher rankings. Each of those links can have more or less importance. If you get linked to from a very popular site more of that strength is passed on to your site. Just like campaigning for office in the real world. Getting that backing from a auto union is much more valuable than getting your next door neighbors vote. So how do you get these links? There are many different ways and several different search engine specialists that will give you their particular take on it. I say make it simple. Get the links you want by asking for them. Sending out a couple hundred thousand emails asking for a link would not only be considered spam. It would also be ignored by the webmasters that received the email. A more effective way of getting links to your website is through directories. Quality directories categorize and review websites for a small fee. Then after a successful review the directory will list your website with a link. This is perhaps the easiest and quickest way to get links to your website. These are the best places to request links. A different way to get inbound links is by writing articles and submitting them to online sites that publish articles. If the article is good quality and gets accepted you can get a link back to your website within the resource box. Something that you should remember when working on links is many bad links don’t equal one quality link. Remember that links carry different weights as we previously discussed. Link building is also a mostly hands-on process. It takes time and is never truly complete. As long as you have a quality website that you want to remain popular, you will need to be working on building links to your site. Think of these tips a starting point for a first-rate link building campaign. There are some other methods, but the ones listed here are very effective and where most focus.

SEO - HTML For Titles, Descriptions And Metatags

It is easy to master the simple HTML tags that are used in search engine optimized. Keywords and keyword phrases must occur often and near the beginning of the TITLE tag, the DESCRIPTION and KEYWORDS meta tag. The more frequent the keywords appear and the nearer they appear to the beginning of the tags and pages, the greater the chance of achieving high search engine positioning. The three that are most important for page optimization are: 1. The TITLE tag Example: Speedy SEO Services Company This is the most important HTML tag on your web page. It should at the very least contain the name of your company unless your company name is really deceptive or general. For instance if you have decided to name your SEO business website “Cracking The Code” it may be a better idea to put a description rather than your business or a bunch of Da Vinci Code fans and conspiracy theorists could end up on your site. . It is more important than the content and it is more important than the description or keywords meta tags. 2. The DESCRIPTION meta tag Example: For best results make sure that your HTML metatag description is no more than 40 words and that it contains your most important keywords. Search engines will often use the contents of this tag to display results of a search. Also do not use a list of keywords as a description. Search engines will see this as an attempt to achieve a high ranking and will probably penalize you and your site may appear much lower on the list as a result. 3. The KEYWORDS meta tag Example: You should include the keywords meta tag in all pages you want indexed. Do not "spam4" the search engines by repeating keywords. Only use keywords that appear in the actual content of the page. If the search engines detect that you are trying to score a high ranking by using keywords that have nothing to do with the content of the page then you risk being penalized or blacklisted for good.

How To Get Good Leads

It's not a great idea to buy leads. Let's face it if those "fresh" leads were really "fresh" don't you think that maybe a few would be interested in your product/business opportunity/service? I have only found two ways to generate a list of responsive leads: 1. An internet/email marketing course that teaches you how to set up your capture page correctly. 2. A system that is designed to capture prospects and weed out the ones that are just "looking". Using the techniques in the Internet marketing course I built a list of over 300 in less than a month. These were people hungry to get into my niche. That is the key, finding you niche and marketing to them. If you don't know what your niche is, you need to find out who buys your product before you start marketing. It's a problem if you are marketing cat nip to bird owners, you'll sell nothing. The advertising cost me about $300 over that month but about 1/3 of my visitors signed up for my newsletter. I wasn't giving away any goodies to get them to sign up. You don't want people who want freebies do you? If you have a list full of freebie takers what makes you think that they are going to buy your products? You want people to sign up for your information because they think you can help them solve their problems. Now the system I mentioned is Pay It Forward 4 Profits. This system is geared towards Multi-level Marketing and Direct Marketing businesses. It gets qualified business seekers in front of your opportunity and it builds you a list of responsive customers when you have other products and services that they might need. If your'e in an MLM you need this system. If you're marketing online you need a list. You have heard the saying "The money is in the list.". Well it's true. The best way to get a list is to generate it yourself with proven strategies. These two are proven and they both work. It just depends on what type of business you have and who you are marketing to.

School athletics are not that easy to manage. You have lots of sports to take care of and lots of children to deal with. But I will tell you how to make things easy with the use of customizable silicone wristbands. These highly customizable silicone wristbands are good for tickets, fundraisers, good for distinguishing who belongs to what sport, and good for promoting school spirit. Imagine how many organizations can use these bracelets for an event or cause. Imagine also the number of people that would be interested in purchasing and wearing these bracelets, no matter what the color it. It is mostly the message and the symbol that the bracelets signifies for, that people do purchase the bracelet, and not the fashion statement that it is to be. Just make sure that you present it to the right people, and they will be interested in getting a silicone bracelet. With the use of these customizable wristbands you can change your cardboard ticketing system. If you are a Capricorn (December 22 to January 20), you are a personality to be reckoned with, but in a quiet, subtle way. These are people who will achieve whatever goal they set for themselves. They have the grit and determination to see out a project or an objective, no matter how long it takes. They are surprisingly witty, when they allow themselves to be, although they’re not the fiery, flashy kind. A Capricorn will always be on time, will always have positions of responsibility. They make good psychologists because of their ability to listen to short-tempered people or people on a rant. They have an ability to stay calm and reasoned in a disagreement or conflict, even though the other side may be more passionate. They are deep thinkers who have good memories and a never-ending intellectual curiosity. In their relationships, they can have a tendency towards unhappiness. Capricorns set very high standards for themselves, and can be easily disappointed if others don’t set equally high standards Professionally, they are strongly attracted to music, although their logical side also makes them excellent bankers. Some famous Capricorns include Anwar Sadat and Martin Luther King. Paul Cezanne and Henri Matisse were also Capricorns. Other famous Capricorns include Richard Nixon, Simone de Beauvoir and Edgar Allen Poe. After the Age of Aquarius in the zodiac Great Year (approximately 2000-4000 CE) will come the Age of Capricorn. It’s hard to predict what the human condition will be by then. Will we have moved on to other planets and solar systems. If the Age of Aquarius is to be marked by humanitarianism and greater understanding among the people on Earth, (we hope!), what will define the Age of Capricorn. Will we achieve the goals of Aquarius. Many people look towards the new millennium and the beginning of a new era in the Great Year with hope that we will have learned from the mistakes of the past. Hopefully we will continue to learn and in the Age of Capricorn will have evolved to even greater human potential.

Who Wants To Start An Internet Home Based Business?

Sure, working at home is great, but an Internet home based business takes the cake. I started an online home business 5 years ago and it has turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. Working online from home has many advantages, and in this brief article I’m going to give you a few reasons why I believe that Internet home based businesses are the best way to go if you’re looking to escape the 9 to 5 rat race. Hopefully by the time you’ve finished reading this article, you’ll have a better idea of the advantages that an online business offers. Starting an Internet business is great because it gives you freedom. While most work from home businesses require you to be at your home office during the day, an Internet business gives you the ability to work from anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer and a reliable Internet connection. This is a big benefit to living the “Internet lifestyle” and one that I would never trade at any price. Another benefit to starting an online home business is the fact that you can handle most of your business via email. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good phone call as much as the next person... but email really gives you more options. For instance, why not outsource your email and support? This will free you up to do other things that are more productive and it doesn’t cost much at all to implement. Another reason I enjoy email more than the phone is that I can respond to inquiries when it’s most convenient. When people call, they expect you to either pick up or return their call promptly. I’ve found that email responses of 24 hours are more than acceptable, which allows me to get back with people when it’s convenient and I don’t have the constant interruptions that I used to have. Hopefully this short article has given you some good reasons to start an Internet home based business. Sure, there will be challenges along the way just as there are in any endeavor, but the potential rewards are out of this world.

The Item Finding Service Llc Expands Its Operating Procedures To Include Delivery

In an attempt to simplify its operating practice, The Item Finding Service LLC has begun delivery of requested items. The company previously took requests for items and negotiated sales between buyer and seller. The previous terms made the company difficult to understand for many consumers and may have given it a somewhat negative image in the eyes of miscellaneous salespeople. In contrast to its previous practice of researching requested items and providing statements of "willingness to sell," the company now provides the actual item to the person who requests it. According to The Item Finding Service LLC, this simplifies the entire process and still accomplishes the original goals of the company. The owner believes that the new process will make the company more like an online ordering business than a service provider. It is still uncertain to the general business market if this strategy will appeal to the consumer on the basis of vehicle purchases. In the United States of America, car purchases have traditionally been thought of as long-term purchasing processes with determination and patience involved. With the new process The Item Finding Service LLC is using, it can be done in a few e-mails without ever setting foot on a new car lot. The owner of the company, Zack Cam, states, "People don't represent themselves in court when they don't understand the modern and complex legal system; Why should they have to represent themselves in a large purchase when they can be hit with just as many, if not more fines when they are not familiar with the modern and complex system salespeople are taught to follow?" With the new operating process, the company believes the international market is now a more viable option and is currently researching international law in an attempt to expand further. Until then, The Item Finding Service LLC hopes it can continue to accommodate the American consumer.

See How Easily You Can Make Clients And Prospects Remember Your Name

Why should you use promotional gifts to help promote your company? Isn’t a business card just as good? On the contrary, promotional gifts play a strong psychological role in convincing people in your industry that they need you. Take an example from Robert Cialdini’s book, The Psychology of Persuasion, in which he explains that one secret to persuading people is the “Rule of Reciprocity” ingrained in us since birth by society. Because it is beneficial for humans to be able to exchange and share, with the expectation that we will be repaid in the future, people are more likely to give in to your requests if you give them something first. Have you ever wondered why Hare Krishnas give you a flower before asking you to listen to them talk about the benefits of their religion? Promotional gifts fall into the same general category but with the added benefit of having your name, phone number, website and logo printed on them. The best kind of promotional products is the kind that provides some utility to the end-user. While pens and calendars were great to keep you top-of-mind for your audience in the past, today there are numerous hi-tech options such as thumb-drives, laser-pointers, digital picture frames, and even MP3 players with your information engraved on them. The more an object with your name on it gets used, the more likely someone will be to remember who you are and what you do. Of course, once you provide the promotional gift to your client, prospect or influencer, don’t forgot to ask for your return favor. You can do it right up front, as when you receive the complimentary, pre-printed return address labels in the mail. Or later on, like when you receive government0candidate pins or buttons in the hopes that you will cats your vote at the proper time. Remember that each promotional object that you give out is an opportunity to start a conversation, and opening to ask for a ‘favor’ in return.

How To Avoid Problems With Web Hosting Companies

The best way to determine the quality of a hosting company is to use their services. Some of these companies will cause many headaches for you, and you want to avoid this at all costs. In this article I will describe certain problems you could have with a hosting service, and how to avoid it. Because your websites rely on hosting services to keep them running, what they do can effect you, whether it is for the good or bad. One of the most common problems people run into when dealing with hosting companies are server downtimes. When the server goes down, this is a big inconvenience to everyone who uses the service. What really makes it bad is when it takes days to get a response from the tech support department. Some companies don't even answer their emails. Hosting companies which do this have bad customer service, and should be avoided. You should also let others know about their service so that they can avoid it. Another problem which webmasters will run into is hosting companies which like to hold their domain hostage. When you build a website, and decide you want to sell it, you may find out that the hosting company will not allow you to. They will make up some excuse for why they don't allow it, but basically they want control over your domain. This is a big headache, and to avoid this problem you should always ask if you can transfer your website to other servers if you decide to sell it. If they tell you this can't be done, look for another service. I've talked to many webmasters about this, and most will not buy a website if they can't transfer it over to their own server. If you plan on selling your website, it is critical that you use a web hosting service which will allow you to easily transfer over your domain without any problems. Even if a hosting company offers excellent service, if their servers are constantly down, you will have problems. When you ask them about this, they will almost always tell you that they have a 99.9% uptime. My advice is to not take their word for it. Sign up for webmaster forums and ask questions. Get more than one answer, because many webmasters own hosting companies and will refer you to their services to make money. While nothing is wrong with this, you will want to make sure you get a bunch of opinions about a particular company before using it.

Host Wars! The Battle of Space (Disk Space)

Just recently, I received an email from one of the twenty hosting companies that I'm affiliated with and before I even opened it I knew what it was going to say. Pretty much the same thing that the last five emails from other hosting companies have said. "Dear Affiliate, we're happy to announce that we've included more disk space to our basic hosting plans which now offer over 20,000 Mb (mega-bytes) of disk/storage space to your customers." And the Hosting companies battle on! Now don't get me wrong, from a marketing and advertising viewpoint, offering my customer 20,000 Mb of disk space instead of 5 or 10 thousand is something that just "sweetens the pot." Why not have extra space? Sometimes more is better. But unless you're the only person on an island with an internet connection and a hosting account thats going to be used by a small third world nation, or unless you're Ebay (TM), I don't see where the average company, even with a website that has 100 or more pages with many graphics, is even going to come close to using 20,000 Mb of disk/storage space per month. My modestly small website wbwebhosts dot com has twelve pages that get a total of around 200 page hits a day. Last time I checked I was averaging 2 Mb of disk/storage usage per month. Naturally, I'm sure that if everybody who was hosted with a certain company was somehow able to use 20,000 Mb of disk each month, the hosting company would run out of server space. But thats OK though! Advertising all that storage space is a "Hook" to lure people in. Nothing wrong with that. As I said above it's better to have too much storage space then not enough. But look for other things that the company offers they may set them apart from other web hosting services. Is the set-up and Domain free? Where are there servers located? C-panel control (very easy control panel for beginners)? Price per month? Transfer (monthly traffic allowed)? Well the Host wars will continue! Maybe by this time next year they'll be offering 30,000 Mb to attract new customers. To most unsuspecting people this will seem like a great deal and will be happy and feel lucky that they have found such a hosting company. By offering more disk/storage space, the hosting companies will lure more customers and affiliates, affiliates in turn will gain more customers and the customers will be happy with the excess of space. Oh well, as long as everybody is happy.....

If you choose the right items it sell, profit can follow quickly. You'll need to get in touch with a company that supplies the products for you and then you can list these items on your auction site. The downside to online auctions is that if your merchandise does not sell, you will lose money by paying the listing fees for all of the items that remain in the company's warehouse. Be sure to educate yourself on the products and study the seasons when you will be able to see the maximum amount of product before you get involved in this business. The easiest way to make extra money online is affiliate marketing. All you need to do to begin earning money is place someone else's ad on your website. If you drive traffic to your site and a visitor purchases a product through your affiliate link, you will earn a commission. If you do not have a website, these ads can be placed on your blog as well. If you have a website, you can sell online to bring in extra cash. If you don't have a website, you will at least need to get connected to a website that will let you post your merchandise for sale. There are also some craft malls that will allow you to rent floor space in order to display your product. The mall handles all of the marketing. The mall subsequently earns their money by charging you a monthly fee to rent the space and will also charge you a percentage of any sales that are made.

Commercial Identity

The name you select for your business, product or service explains who you are or what you sell. It identifies what sets you apart in the marketplace. It helps determine how you’re perceived. Be sure that your name communicates exactly the right message. You can generate names on your own or consult an ad agency, design house or marketing firm that specializes in naming. Either way, it’s best to begin by examining the commercial names around you and evaluating their effectiveness. Look at car names, for example, and think about what they mean and why they were chosen, from a marketing standpoint. The first step in generating company names is to pinpoint three to five attributes or benefits – marketing positions -- that make your company special. These could be a hot-button feature common to all your products or services, the range or specialization of your inventory, or key user benefits such as economy or peaceof mind. In other words, the reasons customers decide to choose you over the competition. Consider, as well, three to five personality traits you might want to communicate, such as friendliness, skill, innovation or elegance, focusing on qualities your target customers will appreciate. There’s light-heartedness, for example, in the names of the massage center Nice to Be Kneaded and the computer consulting firm Rent-a-Nerd. For each benefit or personality trait, make a list of all the names that come to mind. These may be words or phrases associated with the benefit or trait. They may be words for ideas or objects that evoke that trait or benefit the way the clothing store Headlines, for example, evokes newness and excitement and the California high-tech firm Oracle evokes visionary power. If you want your name to include your type of organization (e.g., “company”, “group”, “corporation”, “electrical supply”), try out the names you generate with your organizational word to make sure you have pairs that work together.
